Teen Hospitalized After Being Struck By Horsham Fire Truck: Police

The 15-year-old was biking in the early morning hours Tuesday when the incident occurred.

HORSHAM, PA — A Horsham Fire Company truck hit a teenager riding his bike early Tuesday morning, leading to severe injuries, authorities said.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on March 31.

The 15-year-old boy was biking east on Moreland Avenue into a red light at the intersection, police said. The truck was coming through a green light into the intersection from Meetinghouse Road when it struck the bike.

The truck was on its way back to the station from a fire call and did not have its emergency lights or siren activated, police said.

Police said the biker was wearing headphones at the time of the crash.

Because fire trucks are equipped with forward facing dash cameras, the incident was captured on video.

The teen was taken to Jefferson Abington Hospital for treatment and was then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for further care.

"The men and women of both the Horsham Township Police Department, and the Horsham Fire Company, offer their thoughts and prayers to the juvenile and his family and wish for a full and speedy recovery from his injuries," officials said in a statement.

The investigation remains underway. If you have any information, contact police at (215) 643-8284 or police@horsham.org.
