West Moreland Avenue Bridge Battle Brewing
The West Moreland Avenue Bridge closure has frustrated Hatboro residents. The bridge project may arise at Tuesday's Borough Council meeting.
HATBORO, PA — Next to the Hatboro Borough pool and near Eaton Park is a major construction sign on Moreland Avenue that states the road is closed.
While this was to be expected with the replacement of the West Moreland Avenue Bridge project, that sign is also a sign of trouble.
"The bridge will be closed for two years. The Borough Council should have worked with Montgomery County to bring that down to a year or nine months," Lou Polaneczay, chairman of the Hatboro Republican Organization, told Patch recently.

Borough officials had hoped to provide statistics about the West Moreland Avenue Bridge project, specifically on traffic enforcement and traffic counts on surrounding streets.
The borough has been gathering information on traffic counts. It was not known whether those findings will be presented at Tuesday night's meeting.

Officials also had recently reported that they had talked to the contractor doing the bridge work — and that despite the constant winter weather — the project is progressing.
"This is a good sign as we thought perhaps the weather would slow the project down," officials said.
Anyone with questions about the project should contact Borough Hall at 215-443-9100 or email Borough Manager Diane Hegele at dhegele@myhatboro.org
