• Women's Swimming Receiving Votes in CSCAA Preseason Poll (iupathletics.com) — Right here in Indiana, the IUP women's swimming team is getting national attention as the top program just outside the CSCAA preseason top 25 after last year's PSAC runner-up finish. With All-Americans Kasha Stokes and Gem Crittenden returning and strong relay squads intact, the Crimson Hawks aim to defend conference relay titles and push for another championship run this season.
   

• DA: Johnstown woman gets 50 years to life in kidnapping, murder plot of Indiana County man (wjactv.com) — A Johnstown-area woman has been sentenced in Indiana County court to 50 years to life in prison for her role in the 2022 kidnapping and killing of 19-year-old Hayden Garreffa, whose body was found in Brush Valley Township. Prosecutors say she was among eight people accused of luring him from a Dilltown home and brutally assaulting and stabbing him, after pleading guilty but mentally ill to murder, kidnapping, and related charges.
   

• How 1,800 Local Tradespeople Are Powering Pennsylvania's Ultimate Energy and Data Innovation Campus (spectator.org subscription) — Just down the road in Homer City, more than 1,800 mostly local union tradespeople are building a massive new natural-gas power and data campus that promises thousands of construction jobs and about 1,000 permanent positions. Leaders say the project is finally giving Indiana County workers a reason to stay, boosting apprenticeships, training centers, and nearby businesses while positioning the region for a long-term energy and tech role.
