• Mrs. Elaine Shay, a Rydal resident, former Montefiore Cemetery board chairman, musician, and active community volunteer, has passed away at 88 (glensidelocal.com) — Jenkintown’s Montefiore Cemetery, long overseen by the Shay family, is mourning former board chairman and devoted volunteer Elaine Shay, who has died at 88. The Rydal resident treated the cemetery as a community trust, while also serving Abington schools, the library, Red Cross, and local musical and synagogue groups; donations in her memory are suggested to several charities.
