• Pirates Charities surprises Roxbury Park Miracle League with $150,000 donation (wjactv.com) — A major boost just arrived for inclusive baseball in Johnstown, with Pirates Charities donating $150,000 toward a fully accessible Miracle League field at Roxbury Park. The gift brings phase-one funding to $1.9 million, edging organizers closer to a $2.4 million goal that would serve children and adults with disabilities across Cambria and Somerset counties.
   

• Police academy celebrates cadet class at graduation (altoonamirror.com) — Newly trained officers with ties to Johnstown and surrounding communities have graduated from the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Police Academy, completing 919 hours of intensive instruction and practical training. Several Johnstown residents earned special awards and conditional job offers, and the academy is already recruiting for its next class starting August 31.
