1. Opus Ties Kennett Square Restaurant Profits to Local Giving (mychesco.com) — A new restaurant, Opus, is opening Sept. 11 at 201 Birch Street in Kennett Square, with a ribbon-cutting and community open house on Sept. 10. Run by Square Roots Collective, Opus will serve New American cuisine and direct all profits to local community initiatives, while adding another restored, art-filled space to the growing Birch Street hospitality district.
   

2. Cockroaches, Food-Safety Lapses Cited at Downingtown Hibachi (mychesco.com) — Chester County health inspectors flagged Presto Pizza in Kennett Square for a too-warm Pepsi cooler and repeat date-marking and cooling violations, requiring food disposal and equipment replacement. In better news, Las Toluquenas Express and the soon-to-open Opus in Kennett Square were among eight facilities found in compliance. Residents are reminded how to report food-safety concerns or illness to the county.
   

3. Police Log Sept. 2:Crash, theft, assault (chaddsfordlive.com) — Recent police activity in Kennett Square includes a DUI arrest on South Broad Street and an assault case on Magnolia Street, both involving local residents and now moving through district court. The broader log also notes a Chadds Ford crash and thefts in nearby Concord Township and at a local Wawa, reflecting regional public safety concerns.
   

4. Conestoga opens field hockey season with win over Kennett (dailylocal.com) — Kennett High School's defending District 1 Class 2A field hockey champs fell 4–0 at home to Conestoga at Legacy Fields in Kennett Square, dropping to 2–1. Coaches and players from both sides highlighted conditioning, teamwork, and lessons learned, with Kennett's coach stressing how the tough matchup should help prepare the Blue Demons for a postseason run.
   

5. The Philly region has been a national hot spot this year — for flood warnings (inquirer.com) — Kennett Square is highlighted as one of several Chester County communities repeatedly hit by Brandywine Creek flooding during a record-setting year for regional flood warnings. Meteorologists and emergency managers explain why the Philadelphia area has seen so many alerts, how localized downpours can quickly overwhelm neighborhoods, and why residents should take warnings seriously even outside traditional flood zones.
