100-Year-Old Lansdale Woman Passes Away

Lansdale Catherine B. Maxwell, 100, taught in both the Springfield and Central Bucks School Districts. She loved gardening and sewing.

LANSDALE, PA -- Catherine B. Maxwell, 100, of Lansdale, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Maxwell, who died October 10, 1985.

Born April 1, 1916 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Martha (Andrews) Bassett.

Mrs. Maxwell graduated from Springfield High School and was employed with Central Bucks School District for many years, retiring in the 1980s. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, especially doll clothing.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane M. Daveler and her husband, Jay, of Lansdale; daughter-in-law, Kristi Maxwell of Peachtree City, GA; three grandchildren, Ryan Maxwell, also of Peachtree City, Amanda Maxwell of Newnan, GA, and Matthew Maxwell and his wife, Kristi, also of Newnan; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Maxwell, Jr.; and sister, Helen Kleaver.

Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Catherine’s memory to the Sunshine Foundation, 1041 Mill Creek Drive, Feasterville, PA 19053
