Clubhouse Destroyed In Fire At Montgomery Twp. Senior Community: Latest Updates

The two-alarm blaze in the early morning hours drew a massive response from area firefighters.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — The clubhouse at a Montgomery Township senior living facility was completely destroyed during Wednesday morning's major two-alarm blaze that led to hundreds of residents being evacuated.

No injuries have been reported, and Stump Road, the main local thoroughfare shut down by the blaze from Horsham Road to County Line Road, has reopened.

The fire at the Village of Neshaminy Falls, on 100 Stump Road, began at around 5:30 a.m. Firefighters from numerous departments around the area responded to the scene and spent hours extinguishing the blaze and attempting to contain it to the clubhouse area.

The clubhouse was empty at the time of the fire. The cause remains unknown and is under investigation.

Local officials are mourning the loss of the clubhouse, described as a center for social life for the nearly one thousand residents of the community.

"I’m extremely saddened to learn about the fire at the Neshaminy Falls clubhouse in Montgomery Township early this morning," State Sen. Maria Collett said in a statement. "While I’m grateful for the firefighters’ quick response and relieved the building was empty at the time, this represents a big loss for the Neshaminy Falls community. The clubhouse is where residents gather, exercise, and access key resources – including my staff’s monthly mobile office. I’ll continue to work with the Neshaminy Falls community to ensure we alleviate the impact of this loss on our community as efficiently as possible."

A major fire at a Montgomery Township apartment complex for senior citizens led to hundreds of residents being evacuated in the early morning hours Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Village of Neshaminy on the 100 block of Stump Road at around 5:30 a.m. The Village is designated for individuals 55-years-old and above.

Officials said the blaze began in the clubhouse of the community, which is the center of social life there. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

No injuries have yet been reported.

Images from the scene shared by multiple fire companies showed that it was mostly doused by shortly after 8 a.m. Crews remained on scene into the later morning hours.

Residents are asked to avoid the general area as traffic is expected on nearby roads. Stump Road remains closed between Horsham Road and County Line Road as of 10:20 a.m.

Local officials shared their condolences with the community.

"I was saddened to learn of a devastating fire that took place at the this morning," said Tanya Bamford, Motngomery Township Board of Supervisors. "My thoughts are with all those who’ve been impacted."

North Wales Mayor Neil McDevitt, a former firefighter in Montgomery Township himself, thanked first responders for their thorough work.

"Thankful for all of the volunteers from North Penn Volunteer Fire Company and our regional departments who are still working on this major fire," he said. "Having been a firefighter at Fire Department of Montgomery Township years ago, I know how important the clubhouse is to the residents of Neshaminy Falls. I’m happy no injuries have been reported but please keep residents that rely on the center in your thoughts."
