“There is no such thing as a cold case in Montgomery County,” said DA Kevin Steele. “We continue to work with Lansdale Police in following up on several leads we received this year. We’ve interviewed hundreds of people about Julie’s murder since it happened, and we’ve re-interviewed many in the last several years. We want to find her murderer and bring justice to this family that has been grieving for 23 years now with no closure.”

Barnyock lived in New Britain with her parents. She was a graduate of Central Bucks High School.

On Monday, November 8, 1993 at about 11:40 p.m., authorities said arrived at the Lansdale train station on the R5 SEPTA line.

But when her father came to the train station to pick her up, she wasn't there. Her parents reported her missing the next day.

Three weeks later, her body was found in the nearby SEPTA/Contrail freight yard. According to autopsy reports, the cause of the death was blunt force head injury. Her death was ruled a homicide by the coroner.
