What if your child's glass of apple juice turned out not to be apple juice?

A pair of Pennsylvania children were rushed to the hospital in Lancaster County on Friday and placed in intensive care after they drank an apparently caustic liquid inside their juice, according to multiple media reports.

The incident occurred at the Star Buffet and Grill, which is located on Lincoln Highway East in East Lampeter Township, according to Philly.com.

The manager, Steve Weng, told Lancaster Online that he had no idea how something like this could have happened. He said the juice was bought at a local supermarket, where he usually gets it from.

Four of the Zaragoza children drank the juice, but only two, Richie and Ginaya, were affected, the report states. They began screaming soon after drinking.

"It burns, it burns," Richie, who is already fighting cystic fibrosis and diabetes, began to yell.

"We were supposed to be celebrating his birthday," their mother, Virginia Davis, told Lancaster Online.

Hospital officials have not yet released test results on the caustic substance, reports state. Anther adult that drank some of the juice later spat up blood and said the juice tasted like acid, but he was not hospitalized.

East Lampeter police confirmed they were investigating but did not provide further details.
