24th Montco Coronavirus Case Found As More Shut Downs Ordered

The 24th case of coronavirus was found in Montgomery County Sunday, and Gov. Wolf ordered all of the county's bars and restaurants to close.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The 24th case of coronavirus was found in Montgomery County Sunday, as Gov. Wolf ordered all of the county's bars and restaurants to close to stop the spread of the virus.

Montgomery is one of five counties around the state, along with Chester , Bucks, Delaware, and Allegheny, to have establishments ordered closed by Gov. Wolf. Wolf had previously "strongly recommended" all nonessential businesses to shut down, but many remained open.

Businesses which offer carry-out, delivery, or drive-thru services can remain open.

Four new cases were discovered in Montgomery County on Sunday, in addition to the three that were found on Saturday. The infected cases found Sunday include:

  • 37-year-old man in East Norriton, who has mild symptoms. He was infected by a previously known infected individual in Montgomery County.
  • 62-year-old woman in Lower Merion, who has been hospitalized.
  • 44-year-old man from Lower Providence, who has mild symptoms. He was infected by a previously known infected individual in Montgomery County.
  • 55-year-old man from Lower Merion, with mild symptoms who was diagnosed in another state and remains there.

Montgomery County now has cases in 12 municipalities, including Douglass, Cheltenham, Lower Gwynedd, Worcester, Skippack, Perkiomen, Collegeville, East Norriton, Lower Providence, Upper Merion, Conshohocken, and Lower Merion.

A total of 16 new cases were announced on Sunday, bringing the statewide total to 63, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
