5 Points Intersection $14.2M Improvement Continues In Montgomery Twp.

Delays should be expected through Friday. Changes will "improve traffic flow and reduce crashes," PennDOT said.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — A major $14.2 million construction project is taking a huge step forward this week at Montgomery Township's Five Points Intersection, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

One of the area's key intersections, Five Points brings together Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike), Route 463 (Horsham Road/Cowpath Road), and Business U.S. 202 (Doylestown Road).

New lanes will be added in both directions on Route 463 and Route 309. The widened roadway will mean that 18 different travel lanes approach the intersection, as opposed to the original 15. PennDOT says the changes will "improve traffic flow and reduce crashes."

While construction is ongoing, lane closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22. Delays should be expected.

The project is financed fully at the federal level. Road-Con Inc. of West Chester is the general contractor.
