ALERT: Turnpike Widening Will Shut Down Towamencin's Wambold Road
The closure is part of the $198 million project to expand the Northeast Extension to six lanes.

Wambold Road will be closed in Towamencin Township overnight from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on August 10 as part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike widening project, the police department announced.
Detour signs will be posted, police said.
The closure will affect Wambold between Detweiler Road and Sumneytown Pike.

Two rain dates have been scheduled for the event: August 11 and August 13.

The $198 million project will expand the highway from four to six lanes between mileposts A26 and A31.
Traffic is expected to increase from 65,000 vehicles a day to 100,000 a day by 2030, according to the turnpike commission.
Work is slated to be completed in late 2016.
