Viraj Patel began her Saturday bright and early. Accompanied by her children, husband, and parents, all were eager to contribute to the betterment of their community. For the last five weeks this family had taken up the cause of raising funds to support their local BAPS Charities walk. There was rain in the forecast for days, but this one family’s effort of raising nearly $1,000 was not going to let the rain get in the way!
Likewise, over a hundred families participated in the annual BAPS Charities walk, held on Saturday June 27, 2015 in Lansdale, PA to help raise support for Mitzvah Circle Foundation. This was the second walk for Mitzvah Circle Foundation who provides support, hope, and dignity to individuals and families during times of crisis, poverty, homelessness and serious illness.
President of the Hatfield Board of Commissioners, Tom Zipfel noted, “forget about the weather, any time people gather together for charitable reasons it’s a beautiful day. This weather is irrelevant and the things you do for this community are great.”

This year, over 340 individuals of all ages joined together to walk in the spirit of service. The walk commenced with a traditional prayer for world peace and the singing of the American and Indian national anthems.
Upon completing the 3-mile walk, Viraj proudly stated, “Today, I walked with my family who know individuals who need assistance. I feel very grateful to not only have been able to participate in this walk, but also to help create awareness within our community. My children cannot wait to participate again in the future, raise even more funds and continue to spread awareness about issues pertinent to bettering our society. “
