Bob Adams Auto

Today I am grateful for Bob Adams Auto Service in Lansdale, PA.  I called them late last week to try and get the van in before a last minute road trip.  I needed an oil change, new wipers and double-check to be sure there will be no surprises.  Surprise!

The front brakes are bad.  Not good news when facing an 800 mile road trip.  FYI-brakes stop the car.  Also a brake hose is so bad that it could have blown at any moment.  Does it sound like fun to be on a turnpike, going 75 mph with a busted brake hose?  I don’t think so.  I’ll pass.  He said I would have had to use the emergency brake.  I wonder where that is?  I’ll have to locate it when I get the van back. J

Unfortunately the brake hose can’t be delivered because the dealer doesn’t have one and the dealer in Lancaster isn’t putting trucks on the road because of the “beautiful” winter wonderland.  Winter bites again!  And again.  And again.

Because I do most of the driving, I like to get up at 4 a.m. and leave by 5 for road trips.  John not so much.  I usually toss him grudgingly into the car while he’s still speaking in tongues and he comes round by breakfast a few hours later.  If we weren’t expecting freezing rain (Go winter again. . .you bastard!  Oops, was that my outside voice?), the next day, we would postpone.  I have a feeling if we postpone for bad weather, at this rate it could be May!  Flexibility is the key for the next few days.

It now looks like we won’t get the car back tomorrow until near noon or later.  The great guys at Bob Adams Auto are going to wait for the snow to stop and then keep hounding the shop in Lancaster, on the outside chance they will still be able to deliver it today.  It doesn’t matter.  What matters is that we will be safe.  I’m grateful that the amazing mechanics at Bob Adams Auto Service caught the problem before we left!  Good, fair, honest mechanics are worth their weight in gold!
