Lansdale's Beer Blog From the Round Guys

This is a blog describing beer, owning a small brewery, becoming a new brewer, and what it is like to own a small business.

A BREWERY IN LANSDALE?

Hi, I’m Rich DiLiberto, one of the owners, and brewers at Round Guys Brewery (www.roundguysbrewery.com). My partner and co-owner/brewer is Scott Rudich.  Since many of you may not know about us, we have decided to start a blog about our brewery, beer and the local brewing community.  Neither Scott nor I are experienced bloggers, so bear with us as we figure this out.  We hope that you find this blog informative and entertaining.

WHO ARE WE?

We have a lot of information about the brewery on our website including a Meet the brewers page to learn a little bit more about us.  To give you the short version, we started this project in December 2008 and finally got licensed in March of 2012.  In the interim, we developed recipes and decided what styles of beer we wanted to brew.  Our brewing philosophy has roots in homebrewing, where we brewed the beers we liked.  So now that we own a brewery, we tend to brew a lot of different and diverse beers, You can check out our beers on the Round Guys website.

SERIOUSLY, THERE'S A BREWERY IN LANSDALE?

Yep! We opened the doors to our brew pub on Wood St.,( the corner from the Philadelphia Pretzel factory) in Lansdale on July 27, 2012.  The hours we are open are listed on the website.  We try to maintain at least 8 different beers on tap.  Our styles are always rotating, so the best way to stay in touch with what is on tap is to visit the taproom or check on our Facebook page.

WHY A BEER BLOG?

Well, we obviously like beer!  We learned to brew beer as homebrewers, along with the help of a strong local brewing community (both professional and amateur).  We started our brewery from scratch, piece by piece, so we just thought it would be really cool to share with you some of the behind the scenes stuff.   Scott is a certified as a beer judge, so we also look forward to providing some insights about beer tasting and judging.

WHY LANSDALE?

We decided on Lansdale for a number of reasons.  The clincher was the support of the community and your local elected officials.  There are too many people to thank individually, but every single one of your Lansdale government officials has been supportive and helpful.  Your local state senator Bob Mensch and Representative Bob Godshall have also been in our corner and to help us make the state approval process as smooth as possible.

COME VISIT

We look forward to meeting you.  Scott and I are very excited about being part of the local community.  In future posts we will talk a little bit more about beer styles, our staff, how beers get made and lots of other fun stuff.  In the meantime, stop by between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM for our daily happy hour.  Well, not sure if this qualifies for blog of the year,  but its a start.  We will try to update the blog whenever there is something worth sharing at the brewery,  and let us know what you think!

Cheers,

Rich
