MS Challenge Walk 2012
October 13th and 14th was the 10th anniversary of the MS Challenge Walk.

It was a beautiful weekend October 13th through 14th for a leisurely 30 mile walk through the Upper Perkiomen Trail, and the streets of Philadelphia as the Irish Steppers once again participated in the MS Challenge Walk. Each October, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society holds a 2 day 30 mile walk to raise funds for MS research. I’ve been involved in fundraising efforts ever since my brother, Henry, was diagnosed. Our team “The Irish Steppers” includes Henry’s daughter Jessica, friends Marie Martin and Sharon Victor as well as Henry’s wife Theresa, our niece Bridget Stover, and Marie’s daughter Cecilia.
Fundraising in these challenging economic times can be overwhelming but our team was supported by the generous donations of many friends, our families and co-workers. In addition to this support, the support of the local business community was tremendous and continues to be very humbling.
There are many organizations, businesses and their owners that should be acknowledged, both within the immediate North Penn area and beyond. Of specific mention includes: Knights of Columbus from Corpus Christi Parish, Rita’s Water Ice of Frazer, LaMirage Salon, Cardinal Camera, SNAP Fitness Hatfield, Trader Joes North Wales, Woodburners, Not Just Sandwiches, Zacharias Creekside Café, Bergin’s Chocolates, Bertuccis, Bensi, Qdoba, Ottos, Unique Nails, A Little Something Nice Deli, Washington House, Bagelworks, Jackie Miller of Premier Jewelry, Karen Gargano of Tastefully Simple, Marg Forg of Silpada Jewelry, Liz Davies of Thirty-One, Hot Nails, Tonellis’ Pizza, Belle Mariposa Salon, Marianos Tavern, Bagelworks, Bed Bath & Beyond, Giant Foods (New Hope, Exton, Hatfield, and Horsham), the American Legion Post 234 Executive Committee, Panera Bread, Five Below (North Wales, Downingtown, Collegeville, Springfield, Willow Grove, Cherry Hill (NJ), and Marlton (NJ)), the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.

As indicated, the support was tremendous this year including both new contributors and contributors several years in a row. This letter is just a small public acknowledgement thanking them in this year’s fundraising efforts. Please in turn support them.
Besides support of these establishments, support for MS research is still needed and every dollar helps. If you are able to make a donation, please access the MS website at www.walk4ms.org. The Irish Steppers continue to look forward to the day that MS stands for Mystery Solved!
