What Some People Will Do to Win!
Richard Strahm is running for a seat on Lansdale's borough council. Your choice? Independent thinkers, or Party leadership beholden to special interest money. Your choice!
We all know what some people will do to win an election. They will lie. But you have to ask yourself – if a person has to lie to win, what kind of elected official are they going to be?
Case in point: one of my opponents in the primary race for a Lansdale Ward 3 council seat has said, “My opponents have criticized my activism against the PA Voter ID law last summer, where I gave countless hours of my time assisting citizens to be able to vote. Well, I am very proud of that, and I present it as illustration of the kind of councilwoman I will be.”
I think this is a perfect illustration of what kind of councilwoman Liz Troy will be. One who makes up facts to suit her needs.

As one of her opponents, I can tell you that I have not criticized her activism. Bob Willi, her other opponent has not criticized her activism. What I DID say was:
“While Liz Troy was awarded the ‘Rising Star’ award last year by the North Penn Area Democratic Committee – it was for her political work to make the party stronger – not for any community work she did to make her community stronger.”

I stand by that statement. Liz admits in her own writing that her outreach program to help seniors get the I.D. they might need to vote was targeted at a very specific group of seniors. Ones registered to vote as Democrats.
“Yes, indeed,” she writes, “We have a wonderful volunteer in Lansdale who has made many phone calls to Dem voters in Lansdale to make sure they have what they need.” So be prepared, Lansdale, to get out your voter registration card to show to Ms. Troy should she win. Because it seems that she’s only interested in helping people who help her party.
Don’t be fooled. Liz Troy and Leon Angelichio hold two of the three top positions in the Lansdale Democratic Committee. And the third? Current councilman Jack Hansen.
So if you look forward to four years of having the “party first, Lansdale second” leadership of Hansen/Angelichio/Troy then by all means, vote for Liz and Leon.
But if you’re looking for council members who will look after your tax dollars instead of looking after the Democratic party and the deep pockets that fund them, then vote for Strahm and Willi on May 21st.
