Broad Street To Shut Down, Lansdale SEPTA Station To Use Bus Service

LANSDALE, PA — South Broad Street will be shut down in Lansdale this weekend for SEPTA work, causing delays and spurring new traffic patterns in the borough.

The closure, which is due to needed construction and "renewal" of the track crossing on Broad Street, will be in place from 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13.

It will impact South Broad between Railroad Avenue and Jenkins Avenue, and SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail will connect to Pennbrook Station with a bus.

Local access will be maintained, and SEPTA says that "at no time will access to local businesses adjacent to the crossing, and private property be barricaded."

The work will involve removing the existing crossing surface, as well as the worn ties and rails on the road as well as milling and paving the surface.

"The new grade crossing will provide a smoother ride across the tracks and provide a new surface free of any cracks and potholes in the road," SEPTA officials said in their announcement.

The detour will send motorists to Main Street, Church Road, and Hancock Street.
