Today I am grateful for car dancing. Did you ever have one of those moments when you are approaching a car to your right or left and can see the driver moving around so you wonder what’s up and try to creep up close enough to see and not get caught watching? Well I did. This morning.
I was driving to the Y, clueless as usual, on auto pilot and trying not to freeze solid in the 8 degree temps. I see a guy in the car in front of me wearing a black skull cap dancing around and flailing his arms. I’m curious. I’m always curious. I’ve seen people gesticulating while driving and texting and talking on the phone and having breakfast and reading the newspaper all at the same time, so why is this guy drawing my eye?

He was going straight and I was turning left so I pulled up slowly next to him. I didn’t want to spook him. When I got close enough I could see he was wearing a white shirt and tie and no jacket so his heat must have been blasting as hard as the music. The black tight hat was pulled low over his ears. He was car dancing alright. . .and so was his little guy in the back car seat. Cute thing was wearing a huge, blue, puffy jacket with ears on the hood. His red cap was pulled almost over his eyes and his red mittens flailing around like Michael Jackson. He looked like a berserk, mini-Michelin-Man. Adorable. Gettin’ down and gettin’ funky with dad!
For the first time ever I was disappointed when I got a green left turn arrow. I could have watched them all day long. . .but I am grateful for the few minutes of car dancing I did witness. BING! Heartprint!
