Today I am grateful that some businesses are opting to be closed for Thanksgiving. What a great idea! It’s high time we go back to some basics. I hope they close for Christmas, too. Everyone. Except emergency workers.
We don’t need to get over to buy stuff on holidays. Even if you don’t celebrate, the people who are running the business might and they should be home. . . celebrating in their own way.

I’m going to be very unpopular with some people for this next statement, but I don’t think that high schools should play football games on holidays, either. When my son was on the Pennridge team, every single Thanksgiving was messed up. I wanted to see him play, but how could I when I had a house full of hungry people coming out of the cold for dinner? They should play the day before or the day after, but not on Thanksgiving.
I’m not suggesting a ban on the long held tradition of football on Thanksgiving, but let the pro’s handle it. They get paid more money than I’ll ever see in my lifetime, so they can wait for their turkey and stuffing or celebrate on another day.

Celebrations are important. Even if your sad, or lonely, or distressed, it’s important that you find something to celebrate. . .at least once in a while. I will specifically support the stores who decide to close on Thanksgiving every other day of the year. Your thoughts on this? I’m curious.
