Damaged Wires Causing Delays On Lansdale-Doylestown Line

Crews are working to repair the wires. The goal is to complete the repairs before the evening rush hour, SEPTA said.

Damaged wires along the Lansdale-Doylestown line have caused some Regional Rail delays Monday.

SEPTA said the problem began Monday morning, when the first inbound train on the line came in contact with damaged catenary wires. The train became disabled and passengers aboard the train were transferred to another train.

After that, service along that line continued to run under a seven-mile long single track operation between Penllyn and Glenside stations. “This required SEPTA to run trains in both directions on the outbound tracks. The slow nature of a single track operation caused 45-50 minute delays to the service, but fortunately we did not have to suspend service,” SEPTA said.

SEPTA believes an overnight freight train caused the damage to the wires.

“Our crews are in the process of repairing the damaged wire while we continue to run in both directions on the outbound track. We are working to have the repairs completed in time for the afternoon rush hour,” SEPTA said.
