Davis Giersch, Beloved North Penn Music Teacher, Named Knight of Honor
Congratulations to Dr. Davis Giersch, member of the inaugural Knights of Honor class of 2016.

LANSDALE, PA -- The North Penn School District is highlighting inaugural inductees into the 2016 "Knights of Honor" class, and recently shined the spotlight on Dr. Davis Giersch, the retired music teacher and choral director.
Giersch, hired in 1979, spent 29 years at North Penn directing almost 30 spring musical ensembles and more than 100 musical groups, according to the school district.
Giersch received a BS in Music Education from Penn State in 1968, and taught at Norristown Area School District for two years. He then worked as an instructor while earning his Master of Arts in Music Theory and Composition from Penn State in 1971, according to the district's profile.

During his time at North Penn, Giersch instituted many now long-standing traditions, including the singing of Hallelujah at the winter ensemble, and the creation of the Schoolhouse Singers, a community youth group.
He is remembered as a friend and confidant to students, the profile states.
