Debate Continues On Methacton Schools Shutdown
The community fighting back against a proposal to close at least one of the district's elementary schools.

The debate to close Methacton School District elementary schools continued on Tuesday, according to a report by the Times Herald.
One of the proposed cuts is to Audubon Elementary in Eagleville on Egypt Road, the report states.
Hundreds of residents protested the March recommendation from Superintendent David Zerbe to close the location.

The closings are generally thought of as necessary given declining enrollment, however, many residents in a committee meeting Tuesday.
The enrollment study forecasts 320 fewer students in grades K-4 by 2024 than in 2007, and 960 students fewer districtwide by 2024, the report states.

Further meetings similar to Tuesday’s are scheduled to address more questions from residents, according to the report.
