Today I am grateful for donation pick-ups. We got a call a few weeks ago from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. They are having a fund raising drive and arranging the picking up items for donation. We snapped into action like thoroughbreds at the gate.

We cleaned closets. And storage places. And more closets. And drawers. And closets. I only have three, but they seemed to multiply just like the crap in them. It was almost as bad as the prep for a colonoscopy and about as cleansing. Fugetabout the basement. There is not enough Ibuprophen. John’s back is aching. My shoulder is aching. The hefty bags are aching. Our attitudes are aching. I thought I might lose my poor husband to a funny farm each time he tried to pick up a hanger from the tangled bunch. Hangers are not quite Hell but they are a close second. . .tangled Christmas lights are Hell.

I have no idea where we had all of this stuff. The closets are not completely empty. I can’t imagine why we needed to hang onto clothes we hated 10 years ago. Six bags are stuffed like a turkey at Thanksgiving, trussed up and ready to be picked up tomorrow morning. I will be grateful when they are gone.
