DUVCW Welcome Three New Members to Mary Morris Husband Tent #58

Dot Schieser, President of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War (DUVCW) Mary Morris Husband Tent #58 installed three new members at the November meeting. Each woman is a lineal descendant from a Civil War ancestor who served between April 12, 1861 and April 9, 1865. Members Nancy Elias, descendant of Corporal Evan Morris, Co K. 100th Regiment, PA Volunteer; Barbara Patchell, descendant of Private Theodore Warren Roberts, Co C, 20th Regiment, PA Infantry; and Michelle Davies, descendant of Private William Alexander Fairchild, Co I, 119th Regiment, PA Infantry were all welcomed at the meeting.

To be eligible for membership in the DUVCW, ancestors must have been honorably discharged or died during their term of service. Members have the opportunity to preserve her Civil War heritage for posterity, while honoring and revering her Civil War ancestry, and promoting patriotism for the United States of America.

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861 - 1865 was incorporated December 12, 1885 and federally chartered December 9, 1985. Our mission is ‘To spread widely the teachings of patriotism, that those who dwell in this broad land of ours will so live that, in peace or in war, there shall be no stain on "The Flag Our Fathers Saved." Our object is to: To perpetuate the memory, deeds and loyalty of those ancestors who sacrificed so much in the struggle to preserve the Union and establish freedom for everyone.’
