Eagles Sign Souderton Native Jake Metz
Former Souderton Area High School standout Jake Metz was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.

SOUDERTON, PA — The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Souderton football standout Jake Metz. This will mark the local athlete's second stint with the Eagles, as he was also signed by the Birds around this time last year.
Metz, 26, a defensive end, also helped lead the Philadelphia Soul, the city's arena football league team, to a championships last fall.
Metz had been with the Buffalo Bills organization since April of this year before he was released on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The Eagles claimed him off of waivers just a day later, on Wednesday.

After an award winning career with Souderton, Metz went on to compete for Shippensburg University, where he played 46 games and had 135 tackles in a four year career.
