Exhibit B Gallery To Hold Grand Opening In Souderton

A new gallery and event space will hold its grand opening in Souderton this month.

Imagine a space where you can view all types of art created by local artists, take an art class, do some shopping, or book a private event, and it all comes with free parking. That is what’s in store with the arrival of Exhibit B Gallery to downtown Souderton. Located at 105 North Main Street, Exhibit B Gallery is celebrating its grand opening on Friday, May 19 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and all are welcome. The work of 15 local artists working in a variety of media will be on display along with live music and refreshments.

Nicknamed “The Project,” Exhibit B Gallery is the brainchild of local artists Harry and Heather Boardman. After 12 years of creating and selling art from their home, they decided to take on the refurbishment of a building on Main Street in Souderton that had its start as a cigar factory. This decision to become a part of Souderton’s downtown revitalization was purposeful, as they sought a way to grow their business and create a greater connection with their community.

“My wife, Heather, and I were eager to establish a legit gallery and showroom and to enhance our studio spaces,” said Exhibit B Gallery co-owner Harry Boardman. “I've always had a desire to rehab an old industrial building into a live/work space. When this building essentially fell into our laps, we finally had our opportunity.”

Exhibit B Gallery’s building was built in 1901 and housed the Pent Bros. cigar factory. Since the cigar factory’s closure in 1925, the space has been the home of His Nibs clothing factory, snack bar the Dutch Kitchen, North Penn Amusements, and the home of the American Historic Jukebox Society.

“We've created a unique loft style home for ourselves, an amazing art gallery, a classroom space so we can teach adults and children and also host community events, and corporate meetings,” said Heather Boardman, a glass bead and jewelry artist whose HMB Studios is also within the walls of Exhibit B Gallery. “We’re also looking to provide short-term rentals to businesses without a space of their own, such as a yoga instructor looking for a few appointments per week.”

Future plans include long-term office and retail/commercial rental space. “Something like a boutique or artisan shop would be great,” said Boardman. “We’re looking forward to sharing this space that provides more businesses with access to Souderton’s up and coming Main Street.”
