Fairmount Fire Company's Ladder 14 Serves Its Final Call
The Mack truck and its 108-foot-long ladder have served the region for 39 years.
LANSDALE, PA — One of the Fairmount Fire Company's long-running engines has served its final call for the region.
The company's Ladder 14 has been in use by Fairmount for 39 years.
On March 8, "the ladder was put out of service and the equipment that will be transferred to the new ladder was removed," Fairmount said in an announcement.

The 1984 CF686FA Mack truck is now up for sale. As part of the conditions of the FEMA grant which allocated it to Fairmount, it can no longer be used for firefighting services.
The truck has a six cylinder diesel engine, a 108 foot ladder, and a 6500 watt gas generator, along with numerous other features. It has just over 18,000 miles on it.

Sealed bids on the truck will be accepted by the company until Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. Questions from potential buyers on the matter can be submitted to ffcoengineers@gmail.com.
Ladder 14's final call was a fire alarm at Penndale Middle School on Wednesday morning.
