First Friday Lansdale is Reborn

The event is under new management, so to speak, and returns to Lansdale's Main Street May 4

May 4 will be the beginning of a new era of First Fridays in Lansdale.

The nonprofit Discover Lansdale has taken over the reins of the event from the for-profit North Penn Community Network this year.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and run to 9 p.m. It will be on Main Street between Railroad Plaza and Richardson Avenue.

According to Mary Fuller, president of Discover Lansdale, the event will occur every month in 2012 through December.

"I am very excited that First Fridays are starting back up in Lansdale," said Doug DiPasquale, Lansdale Business Association president, in a press release. "I'm even more excited about how the community, businesses and volunteers are ready and eager to help.  I truly believe this is showing that Lansdale is the place to live, shop, and do business!"

Music is surely a fixture of the new First Friday.

The Mighty Manatees will perform at Railroad Plaza.

Cheers Elephant, nominated as 2011's Best Indie Act in the Tri-State Area, will play on Wood Street.

Other musical acts will be announced soon.

"I think locally and regionally popular bands will be a big draw to this event.  I think these widley known musicians as well as new activity and vendors will offer our community and surrounding area residents many more reasons to visit, and discover, Lansdale," said Fuller.

A Family Corner will be made on the new Madison Street. This area is sponsored by and will feature a moon bounce, a musical act, a performance by the Inglewood Elementary Jump Rope Club and other activities.
