Fourth of July, the holiday to spend with family and friends in celebration of our independence!  Coldwell Banker Realty Corp wishes you a happy and healthy holiday.  We've provided some safety tips to ensure a safe day of grilling, laughing, and watching fireworks.

  • Between 10am-4pm is the highest times for exposure to sunlight.  APPLY SUNSCREEN!!  Even on a cloudy day it is still extremely important for everyone to use sun protection both before and throughout the party!
  • Always supervise the grill when in use.  Keep the grill out of enclosed spaces and near open and airy surroundings.  Check the gas grill for cracks and holes in the hose, grills can be the cause of fires and even explosions if not in proper use.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher and water readily available just in case of a fire caused by the grill or fireworks.
  • Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.  Stay hydrated to avoid serious risks of dehydration like heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  Symptoms of heat stroke include hot, red skin, weak pulse, shallow breathing, and loss of consciousness.  If someone is displaying any of these symptoms call 911 and move them to a cool place.
  • Store fireworks in a cool, dry place.  NEVER let children handle them.  Leave fireworks to the experts!
  • The Fourth of July is among the deadliest holidays of the year, be cautious!  If you plan on even having one drink, make sure to arrange for a designated driver or call a taxi.
  • When disposing of Fourth of July decorations, keep them far away from any heat or flames.  Decorations are usually made of easily flammable materials so dispose of them carefully.
