GIANT on Sumneytown Pike Closing Saturday
Both the store, located on Sumneytown Pike, and the pharmacy, located on South Main Street, will close this weekend.
If you love the GIANT on Sumneytown Pike, get over there right away to say your last goodbyes.
The store is closing Saturday. The pharmacy will close Friday, according to a company spokesperson. All prescriptions from the pharmacy, located at 107 South Main Street, will be transferred to the CVS Pharmacy at 799 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale.
“This was a difficult decision, and it is the result of our ongoing assessment of the operating performance of our stores,” Tom Lenkevich, GIANT company president, said earlier this month when the closure was announced. “We are always evaluating our store base with the goal to ensure we have the right number of stores to serve our customers in the right locations.”

GIANT said it currently has no plans to close any other stores. All 79 impacted associates have been offered positions in surrounding stores, the company said.
Nearby GIANT stores that will remain open include: Knapp Road in Montgomeryville; Bethlehem Pike in Spring House; and Cowpath Road in Hatfield.
