The Growth of the Borgen Project

"The Borgen Project is an incredible nonprofit organization that is addressing poverty and hunger and working towards ending them."

From ending segregation to providing women with the right to vote, nearly every wrong ever righted in history was achieved through advocacy. The Borgen Project addresses the big picture. We operate at the political level advancing policies and programs that improve living conditions for those living on less than $1 per day. The Borgen Project is an influential ally for the world's poor, and we are growing rapidly.

In 2016, 2.4 million people visited borgenproject.org, 532 cities had Borgen Project volunteers, we had 383 meetings with Members of Congress and/or their staff, and 13,860 applied to volunteer or intern with the Borgen Project. The Borgen Project began in 2002, and to have those numbers now by 2016 is remarkable. Being a mainly telecommunications company, the Borgen Project allows it's staff, interns, and volunteers to work remotely. Therefore being able to spread the Borgen Project name all over the country. Aside from the statistics, the Borgen Project has made some heavy duty impact legislation wise.

In 2016 alone, the following bills that the Borgen Project advocated for were passed: The Electrify Africa Act, the Global Food Security Act, and the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act. Each day thousands of staff, volunteers, and interns of the Borgen Project are calling, emailing, and mobilizing for the Borgen Project. With the rapid growth of social media and telecommunications, the Borgen project doesn't seem to have any chance of slowing down in the near future.
