Habitat Bucks To Hold Free “Safe at Home” Repair Clinic at Quakertown Lowe’s
Habitat's "Safe at Home" Repair Clinic focuses on modifications that help make a home a good fit for its occupants.

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County will hold a free “Safe at Home” Repair Clinic on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. – noon at the Quakertown Lowe’s.
Habitat’s “Safe at Home” Repair Clinic focuses on modifications that help make a home a good fit for its occupants regardless of age or disability. This free Clinic is part of Habitat’s home repair program, A Brush with Kindness, which does interior and exterior repairs for low-income homeowners to make the home safe and accessible, and to preserve the home.
The clinic will be presented by Karen Reever, manager of Habitat’s A Brush with Kindness; an occupational therapist; and Patricia Nunan, CKBR, CKD, CAPS. Ms. Nunan is a trained artist, a certified kitchen and bath remodeler/designer, and a Certified Age-in-Place Specialist who is recognized as a leading expert in home design and renovation for people of all ages and physical abilities to live independently in their own homes.

Presenters will describe typical repairs and modifications that can be made in the home and demonstrate common repairs/modifications most frequently needed by older/disabled homeowners, i.e. grab bars, railings, improved task lighting, accessible switches/outlets.
“We encourage homeowners, families, caregivers, home repair professionals, and Habitat supporters to attend the repair clinic and learn more about the accessibility modifications that are key to successful aging in place and maintaining independence,” says Karen Reever, “The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to assist homeowners to improve their homes’ accessibility and help prevent accidents so they can stay safe at home. We do affordable repairs with low-income homeowners who pay only a portion of the repair costs.”

Habitat’s “Safe at Home” program includes home modifications, such as:
- Handicap-accessible ramps, railings or walkways.
- Grab bars, railings, reduced tripping hazards.
- Improved lighting and access to outlets & switches.
- Minor bath and kitchen modifications.
