Harleysville Woman, Married For 63 Years, Dies At 83
A Harleysville woman has passed away at age 83. She was married to her husband for 63 years.

Bette M. Shettsline, 83, of Harleysville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She was the wife of Charles M. Shettsline, her husband of 63 years.

Born March 14, 1934 in Abington, she was a daughter of the late George and Marie (Ennis) Schladensky.
Bette was a Penn State master gardener, receiving 250 hours of service award. She was a member of many local gardening clubs, including the Merrybrook Garden Club, Upper Gwynedd, and was a talented crafter. Bette also enjoyed outings with the Red Hat Society.

She was employed as a secretary for many years at Webb Cadillac, Jenkintown.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Theresa Ann Sweitzer (Clarence) of Wyomissing, PA, James M. Shettsline, DO of Maple Glen, Charles “Chuck” Shettsline (Mari) of Colorado, and Coach Robert “Shetts” Shettsline of Plumsteadville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leo Schladensky of Georgia, Robert Schladensky of North Carolina, and Linda Geselbracht of Chattanooga, TN.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Christine Campbell-Shettsline.
Relatives and friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Prayer Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
