Hatfield Man, 'A Kid At Heart', Passes Away At 66

Hatfield's Ernie Marvin White "had a playful and joyful spirit" and loved spending time with the children of his family.

HATFIELD, PA — Ernest Marvin White from Hatfield PA, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Affectionately known as Ernie, he was born on September 10, 1951 in Norristown, PA to Floyd White and Henrietta (James) White.

Ernie was a long time resident of Norristown and graduated from A.D. Eisenhower High School in 1970. Ernie met his true love Ronda (Skoll) White, and they were married July 23, 1977. He worked at Elmwood Steel, Commodore International, Colombo Yogurt, ACME Markets, and Keebler as a Sales Representative.

Ernie played in several bands in which he played piano, drums/percussion, and served as lead vocals. You could often see him at parties DJ-ing for his family and friends. In his leisure time he loved to cook and was known for his barbecue and sweet potato pies. He enjoyed golf and was an overall sports fanatic. He loved to travel with some of his favorite destinations being Toronto, Niagra Falls, and Walt Disney World, where he loved thrill rides. Ernie had a playful and joyful spirit and could be described as a kid at heart. He loved children and would often watch his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends children.

Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Ronda (Skoll) White; his parents Floyd and Henrietta (James) White; his brothers, Billy Johnson, James White; his sister, Mary Johnson, Estelle (White) Oney, Henrietta Butler, and Ella White.

Ernie is survived by son, Joseph C. Hill (ex. Andrea Hill) of Hatfield and daughter Monica Butler-White of Florida; brother, John White of Norristown; sisters, Amanda Devine of Norristown, Lucy (White) Green (Leroy) of Norristown; grandchildren, Joseph C. Hill Jr., Loren Hill, and Robert E. Hill; godchildren, Syreeta McCoy, Ronda White, and Calvin Peterson; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ernie’s Memorial will be
Friday, February 2nd from 9:00 am - 11:00 am (viewing) with services to follow.
