Hatfield Woman, Nurse In Montgomery County For 50 Years, Passes Away

LANSDALE, PA — Jacqueline L. Murray, 81, of Hatfield, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017. She was the wife of Robert J. Murray, her husband of 60 years.

Born April 25, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Cliffton) Michener.

Jackie graduated from Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing with the Class of 1957. She was employed as a registered nurse throughout Montgomery County for over 50 years, retiring in the 1990s.

Jackie was a founding member and past officer of the Hatfield Women’s Civic Club. Her hobbies included quilting, playing cards, and travelling. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family in Cape May.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kimberly A. Murray of Harleysville, Linda L. Kocher (Thomas) of Quakertown, Michelle L. Vondercrone (David) of Spring City, Michael S. Murray (Lisa) of Hatfield, and Christopher J. Murray, Sr. (Kim Marie) of Birdsboro, PA; brother, Nolan Michener (Shirley) of Palmyra; sister, Lois Hendricks of Danville, PA; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Michener, Jr.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Lansdale United Methodist Church, 300 N. Broad St., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jackie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
