In the past decade, few subjects at the intersection of medicine and sports have generated as much public interest as sports-related concussions—especially among youth. Despite growing awareness of sports-related concussions and campaigns to educate athletes, coaches, physicians, and parents of young athletes about concussion recognition and management, confusion and controversy persist in many areas. Whether you are a parent, youth sports coach,school coach, school professional, or health care provider, it is important for you to recognize, respond to, and minimize the risk of concussion or other serious brain injury, particularly in youth sports.The Centers for Disease Control and prevention ("CDC") has rolled out HEADS UP Concussion Resources. The site provides multiple resources for health care providers, parents, staff and students in on-line, print, and video formats including materials order forms, signs and symptoms checklist, Heads Up Head Injury Concussion Resources for physicians, coaches,school nurses, teachers, and counselors, to allow for the timely recognition and response to concussion.Now the CDC Heads Up! is rolling out a new resource today called a microsite. It offers a simple way for you to learn tools and concussion safety information, which you also share directly through your own website. This is particularly helpful for schools and sports organizations, but also for parents and health care providers.
