Today I am grateful for John the Painter. That sounds like a name out of a Ken Follett book. My husband has been painting itsy-bitsy Dungeons & Dragon figures ever since I can remember. He sits for hours painstakingly dabbing bits of color on a dragon eye or a warlock’s weapon. Sooooo, on Mother’s Day, when I suggested that the best gift he could give me would be to polish my toenails, he didn’t fuss. . .very much. LOL

Look, I love getting pedicures as much as the next gal. But the budget is a little tight, so I’m trying not to get as many. But now it’s getting warmer and my naked toes are exposed. Horrors. I did my own actual pedicure, but throwing my bursitis shoulder and double knee replacements into the contortions necessary for polish is nearly impossible. The last time I polished them they looked like a crazed toe monster had tried to execute them.

Since I cleaned up that mess, my toes have been embarrassed by their exposure. Until now, when my blessed husband painted them, concentrating as though they were the most precious regiment of warriors. I could not love him more.
