Great news for Whites Road Park.
LANSDALE, PA — Lansdale has received a significant grant to help improve Whites Road Park, state officials announced this week.
The borough has received a $290,672 grant to help with extensive streambank restoration in the park, along a tributary of Towamencin Creek.
“Whites Road Park is a major part of the Lansdale community," State Rep. Malagari, (D-Montgomery) said in a statement announcing the funding. "Pockets of nature and recreational spaces are the heart of great neighborhoods like ours, and stabilizing our local environment is a quality use of state funds."

Grant will contribute significantly to the $598,092 project, which will remove sediment bars and plant vegetation along the streambanks. Vegetation will also be packed inside netting in order to better control the speed of the stream.
The funding comes from the state's Commonwealth Financing Authority. Nearly 400 projects around the state, including 29 in Pennsylvania, were funded at the most recent meeting.
