Lansdale Headed To Drexel Earns Scholarship from Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts has awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarships to students around the region, including several in Montgomery County.

Dunkin Donuts has awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarship money to 25 local students, including several individuals in Montgomery County.

Students were selected for their academic record, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to both their school and community, according to a press release.

Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the Fall of 2016.

“On behalf of Dunkin’ Donuts and the franchisees in the Greater Philadelphia Region, I would like to congratulate the 25 recipients of the 2016 Dunkin’ Donuts Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program,” said Perry Shah, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and chairman of the Dunkin’ Donuts Advertising Committee for the Greater Philadelphia market. “Seven years ago, this program was created to help support the regional communities we are proud to serve. We wish these young men and women success as they continue in their academic careers.”

The winners were selected from thousands of applicants, the company said. Scholarship of America, a national manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs, administered the competition.

The Montgomery County recipients are listed below:

Matthew Conklin – Norristown, PAHigh School: La Salle College High School | Wyndmoor
University: Princeton University | Economics major (Class of 2020)

  • Matthew Conklin is a recent graduate of La Salle College High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Italian Club, Gaming Club and Soccer Club. This Fall, Matthew plans to attend Princeton University where he will major in Economics.

Calista Dominy – Collegeville, PA
High School: Spring-Ford High School | Royersford, PA
University: University of Pennsylvania | Computational Biology major (Class of 2020)

  • Calista Dominy is a recent graduate of Spring-Ford High School, where she was a member of the Debate Club and a National Merit finalist. In her free time, Calista spends her time cooking, reading, baking, running, and playing volleyball. In the fall, Calista will attend the University of Pennsylvania to study Computational Biology.

Julianna Hunt – Lansdale, PA
High School: Mount Saint Joseph Academy | Flourtown, PA
University: Drexel University | BioChemistry major (Class of 2020)

  • Julianna Hunt is a recent graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, where she graduated with distinguished honors. In her free time, Julianna enjoys rowing, baking and cooking. Julianna plans to attend Drexel University this fall, where she will major in BioChemistry.

Anisha Mittal – Conshohocken, PA
High School: The Agnes Irwin School | Rosemont, PA
University: Harvard University (Class of 2020)

  • Anisha Mittal is a recent graduate of The Agnes Irwin School, where she served as Environmental Board president, and co-founder of the STEM Club. In April 2016, Mittal was selected as the winner of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Award for Aspirations in Computing in the Philadelphia area. In her free time, Anisha conducts research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) – analyzing the chemical impacts of traumatic brain injuries. This fall, Mittall will be attending Harvard University where she plans to study Computer Science.

Alexandra Uzzo – Ambler, PA
High School: Mount Saint Joseph Academy | Flourtown, PA
University: Cornell University | Engineering major (Class of 2020)

  • Alexandra Uzzo is a recent graduate (distinguished honors) of Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Alexandra is a National Honor Society member and a Nationl Merit finalist. In addition to graduating at the top of her class, Alexandra was an active member of the prestigious Mount crew team. This fall, Alexandra will be attending Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where she plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

Amy Li – Fort Washington, PA
High School: Upper Dublin High School | Fort Washington, PA
University: Harvard College | Environmental Science & Public Policy major (Class of 2020)

  • Amy Li is a recent graduate of Upper Dublin High School, where she served as National Honor Society president. In 2015, Li was named Pennsylvania’s Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards (the country’s largest youth recognition program) for the success of her ‘Gear For Cheer’ nonprofit — a program Li developed in middle school to help donate soccer gear to youth in need. Li was also an active participant on the Upper Dublin debate and math teams, and wrote for the school newspaper. This fall, Li plans to attend Harvard College in Cambridge, MA, to major in Environmental Science and Public Policy.

Brittany Levy – Rydal, PA
High School: Abington Senior High School
University: University of Pennsylvania | Marketing major (Class of 2020)

  • Brittany Levy is a recent graduate of Abington Senior High School, where she served as editor of her school newspaper. Brittany was awarded Abington’s Highest Ranking Female Award, was a National Merit Finalist, and an Abington Mini-THON captain. This Fall, Brittany plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study Marketing.
