Lansdale Hospital Gets New President

Lansdale’s Abington Hospital has named a new president.

Former Chief Operating Officer (COO) Margaret McGoldrick, who has held that position since 1999, will take over.

McGoldrick will be in charge of both Abington Hospital - Jefferson Health and Abington - Lansdale Hospital, in addition to five outpatient centers and two Urgent Care Centers, according to a Wednesday press release

“Abington has benefited from Meg’s expert leadership and fiscal responsibility during the 16 years she has been responsible for operations,” Laurence M. Merlis, EVP, chief operating officer, Jefferson Health, said in the release.

“She has a no-nonsense approach to leadership, coupled with strong values, trustworthiness and unlimited energy. When her promotion was announced at a meeting recently, the management team cheered.”

Prior to joining Abington, McGoldrick held executive leadership roles with Hahnemann University Hospital and the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital.

McGoldrick is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Baldrige Executive Fellow with the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.

She serves on the board of directors of several organizations, including the Gift of Life Foundation, the Health Care Improvement Foundation, the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, the March of Dimes of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the EMS Council of Montgomery County.

McGoldrick also serves as the board chair of the Keystone Alliance for Performance Excellence, the State of Pennsylvania Baldrige Alliance Program.

McGoldrick earned a B.A. in Political Science and an M.B.A. in Healthcare Administration from Temple University. She received her M.S. in Organizational Dynamics and M.Phil. in Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.

McGoldrick lives with her husband in Chester Springs, PA, where they raised their three daughters.
