Lansdale Man, 90, Met Presidents and World Leaders As Beloved Doorman
The late Lansdale man met President Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, and other world leaders during his years as a doorman at Philly's Warwick.

LANSDALE, PA -- Gaetano J. "Gus" Casciato, 90, of Lansdale and formerly of South Philadelphia, passed away on February 4, 2017 at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital in Lansdale, PA. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Eleanor (nee Perri) Casciato. Born October 7, 1926 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and the late Clementine (nee Parascondola) Casciato.

Gus was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, and a United States Army Veteran who proudly and honorably served his country during World War II. He was a former longtime Philadelphia Hotel Doorman at both the Sheraton Hotel and the Warwick Hotel, from where he retired. During the course of his long professional career Gus had met many different VIP'S ranging from politicians Former President Bill Clinton to Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and many other countless celebrities from athletes to actors as well, and he was also a longtime avid and passionate Philadelphia sports fan. Gus will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many.
He is also survived by his children, Joseph J. Casciato (Alix), of Wayne, Jayne E. Casciato, of Lansdale, and Perry J. Casciato (Sue), of Harleysville, his grandchildren, Colin Casciato, Evan Casciato, Nora Casciato, and Ali Casciato, his sister, Lucy D'Emilio, of South Philadelphia, and his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives & friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:30-11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer R.C. Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA 19454 & to participate in his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the church, followed by Military Funeral Honors rendered by the United States Army. Inurnment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA will be held privately by his family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Mary, Mother of the Redeemer R.C. Church at the above address & would be deeply appreciated by his family.
