Lansdale Borough Police want to help out.

The local police announced this week that the Police Department parking lot is a designated safe place for Craigslist transactions.

The preferred time to meet is during daylight hours, officials said.

“Police Chief McDyre warns sellers/buyers about conducting business with anyone who refuses to meet at the Police Station,” Lansdale Borough officials said on Facebook.

Reports of people being robbed or injured by strangers they met on Craigslist are not uncommon. Last year, at least 12 people in Pennsylvania and New Jersey were robbed, injured, raped or killed by someone they met through the online marketplace, according to the Morning Call.

The publication reported that Abington Police have also invited its residents to use its parking lot as a safe zone for Craigslist sales.
