"Pelvic physical therapy and personal training for women."

How did you come up with the name?

"'Epoch' refers to a point in time distinguished by a particular event”; women can experience many epochs in their lives, including puberty, pregnancy and menopause, that can have significant effects on their health."

Why start a business in this town?

"I have been a resident of Montgomery County and have worked in the Lansdale area for the past 20 years. As a mom of three teenagers, I have been fortunate to have interacted with many women over the years that are committed to optimizing their health However, pelvic floor dysfunction, whether it be a result of pregnancy, injury, or surgery, remains a taboo topic that can significantly impact a woman’s ability to reach her wellness goals. Pelvic health needs a voice and I believe our Lansdale community will listen. I am also very impressed with the revitalization efforts of other business owners in Lansdale and am proud to be a part of this effort to strengthen our community."

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

"I would say the greatest challenge I have faced is helping women recognize the importance of seeking treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. These are common issues that, understandably, we either giggle about or don’t talk about at all. As women’s health PT’s, we want women to know that although common, these are not normal conditions, and conservative treatment can be extremely effective."

What has been your proudest achievement since opening?

"My proudest achievements continue to be my patients personal accomplishments. For example, three weeks ago, a patient tearfully admitted she hasn’t been able to “take a walk longer that a block without peeing” since having her (third) baby 6 years ago. This week, we celebrated her first “dry” mile! These accomplishments can be life-changing for women."

How does your business give back to the community?

"I really believe the first step in helping women with pelvic floor dysfunction is education. Despite the overwhelming number of women that suffer from these issues, very little information is available publicly to the community. I have spent the last several months offering free workshops to local fitness centers in an attempt to help women begin to recognize the red flags and what to do if they are experiencing symptoms. Knowledge is certainly power in this health concern and I am happy to continue to offer workshops to all that are interested."
