Lansdale Woman Accused of Stealing $10K from Scouts

Heather Belford, 30, has been charged in connection with thefts from two local scouting troops, according to reports.

A Lansdale woman is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from local scouting troops.

According to court documents, Heather Lynn Belford, 30, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and access device fraud.

The alleged thefts took place between August 2013 and June 2014, according to the Intelligencer.

Belford, who had leadership roles with Cub Scout Pack 27 and Girl Scout Troop 7343, used the stolen money for personal expenses and drugs, authorities told the Intelligencer.

“In this case, she has stolen from children,” Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said in a statement to The Reporter. He added authorities would be seeking restitution.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4.
