Lansdale's Mardi Gras Parade Canceled Due To Coronavirus

Coronavirus concerns have led officials to cancel the event, which had been scheduled for November.

LANSDALE, PA — The annual Mardi Gras Parade in Lansdale, which had been scheduled for November, has been canceled over coronavirus concerns, borough officials announced Thursday.

It's just the latest of a number of the borough's most beloved public events that will not take place in 2020 for health and public safety reasons.

The 2020 event would've been the 70th annual parade. It typically serves as the unofficial beginning of the holiday season in Lansdale.

Lansdale has seen 259 cases of the virus, and 31 deaths, since the pandemic began.

While the virus has been slowed significantly in Montgomery County from the height of the pandemic, its remained steady over the past month or so. There have been 385 cases over the last seven days in the county, officials said.
