The building is located at Seventh Street and Lansdale Avenue, across the street from Lansdale Catholic and St. Mary Manor.
Parking is available in the lot behind the parks and recreation building and across the street at Lansdale Catholic.
The task force rejected proposals from two firms in December and a steering committee pursued a second round of Requests for Proposals.
A total of eight consulting firms responded to the second request for proposal, but with 23-years of art and cultural development experience it was AMS Research and Planning who won over the steering committee.
Lansdale Borough Council unanimously approved AMS Planning as the consultant March 21.
According to The Reporter, a resident of Mt. Vernon Street criticized the hiring of a consultant.
“How many more consulting firms are we going to hire? Our taxes are high enough,” she said.
According to a press release, AMS will articulate the potential uses and programming of the building, identify prospective users, suggest a management model and eliminate operating costs.
The public input is at the top of AMS Planning and Research's study process.
