Local Family Turns Their Loss into Help for Others Affected by Cancer

Joe Moody Foundation hosts 5K race and fun run Sept. 13 at North Penn High School

LANSDALE, PA – Monday July 20, 2015 – The Joe Moody Foundation is pleased to announce that it will host its 3rd annual “Miles For Moody” event on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at North Penn High School. The event, which will include a 5k Cross Country Race, a 1-mile fun walk, and free skin cancer screenings, raises funds to help various organizations. The group is striving to increase awareness of melanoma and to create a solid support system to help other families affected by this terrible disease.

Joe Moody was a beloved husband and father of three when he was taken away by melanoma at the age of 43 (his children ranged in ages from 2-11 at that time). Joe fought this disease with dignity, strength and grace before succumbing on May 7, 2012. The “Joe Moody Foundation” was created by Joe’s wife, his brother and close friends with three objectives in mind: First to give back to the community that so graciously helped his family through their ordeal, secondly to help other families who find themselves in similar situations and lastly to help fund melanoma research so that one day nobody else has to go through this process.

Over the last two years the Joe Moody Foundation has raised and donated over $60,000 towards:
