Lansdale Area Boy Scouts Work To Feed the Hungry

Well done.

Over 60 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, parents and leaders gave up their Saturday morning on November 21, 2015, to collect food donations in the annual Scouting for Food collection (https://www.colbsa.org/news-and-information/news-and-information/news-release-scouting-for-food-bag-distribution-november-14-2.html). Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, the 303 Scouts collected almost 1450 items of food, filling 45 boxes.

To support an established ministry of Corpus Christi Parish, the chartering organization for both the Pack and the Troop, the food collection was donated to the Patrician Society of Central Norristown (http://patriciansociety.org/), a long-time beneficiary of the parish’s generosity. Committee Chair Joe Rakszawski applauded the Scouts for their effort, praising their “good teamwork ... in collecting and sorting through a huge pile of food items.”

Chartered Organization Representative Stan Jaskiewicz, also a Manna on Main Street board member and parish Pastoral Council member, explained to the Scouts that even in a prosperous suburban neighborhood, many people are “food insecure”. The Scouting for Food collection helps provide a reliable source for nutritious food.
